Garcia: "I'm headed in the right direction.'
Quarterback Jeff Garcia said his right leg injury has improved but he will have a better indication following practice this afternoon.
But Garcia is planning to start Sunday against the San Diego Chargers.
"I'm going to practice, so I plan on being ready for Sunday,'' Garcia said. "I'm improved. I feel like I can do more. I feel like I'll have a better feel when I'm at practice today, but I went through all the (walk-through) pracrtice reps, so I know I'm headed in the right direction.''
The injury, which is between Garcia's right calf and Achilles tendon, limited his mobility last week. Because that is such a big part of his game, Garcia said he will have to try and block out the fact that he may not be as fleet of foot.
"I really just have to do my best to block it out,'' Garcia said. "I really just have to take the approach that I'm going to be me and do whatever I have to do in order to be successful and not think about what I'm trying to overcome. And hopefully at that point on Sunday, it won't even be a question mark. But I think for myself, just watching this past Sunday and how difficult that was an frustrating for myself, and not to take anything away from the guys who stepped in because Brian (Griese) did what he had to do, but for me, it was just very difficult to watch and I don't want to be in that situation again. I want to do whatever I can to help this team and hopefully I am that guy who can do this.''
