Giants eyeing "fast" Bucs defense
The Bucs seem to have made an impression on Giants coach Tom Coughlin.
Despite having 10 days to prepare for this weekend's game against the Bucs, following New York's opener last Wednesday, Coughlin was struck by what he saw from Tampa Bay's defense during the season-opening win against the Panthers.
"They played fast, they played hard," he said in comments to reporters in New Jersey. "They certainly caused issues up front for the Carolina front. To hold a team that was ranked (third) in rushing in the league last year to 10 yards -- I think at halftime it was minus-1 -- they did a nice job."
Coughlin also said the Bucs "executed well in all three phases" and added that he saw some familiar concepts in coordinator Mike Sullivan's offensive scheme which might be helpful in the Giants' preparation. Sullivan, of course, was on the Giants' staff before coming to Tampa Bay this year.
We'll hear from Coughlin later today via conference call and will share any other relevant details.
