Greg Schiano says Aqib Talib has a place after suspension

The Bucs today played their first game without suspended cornerback Aqib Talib, but when his four-game ban ends, he apparently will have a place on the roster.

Coach Greg Schiano was clear after today’s win against the Chiefs that the plan is to move forward with Talib.

“He’s got the four-week suspension,” Schiano said. “When he gets back, then we go with him. But when he’s away, I’m really, really proud of the way (E.J) Biggers stepped up. And everybody. It’s a trickle-down effect. Guys didn’t miss a beat. They went out and played Buccaneer defense.

“When Aqib’s suspension is up, I really believe he’ll work hard and be ready. And then we’ll go from there.”

Talib has had a years-long string of issues since being drafted by the Bucs in 2008, including two arrests. He was suspended on Saturday by the NFL for violating its policy on performance-enhancing substances. In a statement, Talib said he took an unprescribed Adderall pill.
