Grimm vs. Grimm: for family bragging rights
Bucs safety Cody Grimm got a telephone call the other day his dad, Hall of Fame offensive tackle Russ Grimm, the Arizona Cardinals' assistant head coach.
"He called and asked who we were playing this week,'' Cody Grimm said Wednesday. "Obviously, joking around.''
When Cody Grimm, a seventh-round pick from Virginia Tech, lines up Sunday against the Cardinals, the man who knows him best will be helping his team attack his son and the Bucs defense. It's a family fued that will last beyond Sunday's game.
"It’s going to be fun,'' Cody Grimm said. "It probably won’t be any different, really, once I’m out there. But it’ll definitely be bragging rights for summertime or whenever I’m around him.''
Grimm says he will dine with his father after the team arrives in Arizona Friday.
"It’s going to obviously hard not to talk about that game,'' Cody Grimm said. "I’m sure we’ll take shots at each other here and there. We’ll see what happens. It’s going to be exciting to play against him.''
