Guard Arron Sears will not report to Bucs training camp
The Bucs have been notified that guard Arron Sears will not report to training camp today.
Sears, who has not been with the team since spring, is dealing with what the club has termed a 'private matter.'
A second-round draft pick in 2007, Sears briefly attended the team's off-season workout program and the first voluntary minicamp under coach Raheem Morris. But teammates noticed Sears was more withdrawn than normal and at one point he became non-verbal, writing down answers to questions on paper. Sears abruptly left the Bucs after that.
A two-year starter at left guard, Sears missed one game last season with a concussion. But there have been no indications that his problem is related to that injury.
The Bucs have some options regarding Sears. They can keep him on the 80-man roster and hope that he eventually reports. But more than likely, they will place Sears on the Did Not Report, non-football injury list.
Second-year pro Jeremy Zuttah is expected to start at left guard in place of Sears.
