Haynesworth joins new Bucs teammates; Williams, Jackson return
Newly-acquired Bucs defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, claimed off waivers by Tampa Bay on Wednesday, is taking part in his first practice this morning at One Buc Place.
Haynesworth, wearing a No. 95 jersey, arrived in time to join the Bucs for their 10:20 a.m. workout as preparations continue for Sunday's game against the Texans. The Bucs have three healthy defensive tackles with Haynesworth in the fold, with Frank Okam still sidelined by a calf injury today. Starter Gerald McCoy was placed on injured reserve on Monday after tearing his right biceps in Sunday's game at New Orleans.
Haynesworth participated in all segments of practice that were open to media, essentially the first 30 minutes of the workout. Part of that period was dedicated to individual defensive line drills, which Haynesworth handled seamlessly. In between drills, he shook hands and did introductions with various players and coaches.
Also regarding this morning's practice, the Bucs got some encouraging news on the injury front, with receiver Mike Williams (thigh) and safety Tanard Jackson (hamstring) re-joining practice after missing Wednesday.
