LB Mason Foster fined $20K for hit on Ochocinco
Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie middle linebacker Mason Foster has picked up another NFL "first" - his first league-issued fine.
Foster found out Wednesday he was fined $20,000 for his hit on Patriots WR Chad Ochocinco in Thursday's exhibition game against the Patriots.
"Just got to pay it and keep on going from there," Foster said. "Learn from it."
Foster's agent, Steve Caric, said he will appeal the fine on Foster's behalf, a remedy extended to any player who is fined.
Foster had felt it was a clean hit, though his forearm and shoulder went into the head and neck of Ochocinco, who didn't end up making the catch. Ochocinco, for his own part, also praised Foster on Twitter, calling it a great hit, and offering to pay the fine if there was one.
