Matt Bryant's hamstring a setback in his battle with Mike Nugent
When K Matt Bryant limped off the field this morning with a hamstring strain, it was a step in the wrong direction for a veteran who is trying to keep his job.
Bryant missed several days last week and was rounding into shape today by kicking well until the injury occurred.
But the Bucs have the luxury of having standout Mike Nugent, whom they signed in the spring. If Bryant can't make it back for Saturday's game at Tennessee, Nugent would get an opportunity to put some distance between himself and Bryant in this race.
Coach Raheem Morris was realistic about the situation when asked today.
"We as an organization are in kind of a fortunate position," he said. "But you still want to see Matt Bryant at his very best going out to compete."
