McCoy: Falcons game Sunday a "must-win"
The last time the Bucs and Falcons faced each other, Nov. 7 in Atlanta, first place in the NFC South was on the line in a week when coach Raheem Morris' statement that Tampa Bay was the "best team in the NFC."
But in this Sunday's rematch, veteran center Jeff Faine thinks there's even more pressure on Tampa Bay (7-4), which is two games behind the first-place Falcons (9-4, with the Saints (8-3) in between.
"I think the pressure is a little more this time because this game now, if they are able to win this game against us, it puts quite a bit of distance between us," Faine said. "We're running out of games now. For us to be able to get back to a little bit of an even playing field, we'd like to be able to get this win and be able to still compete, because there's a lot of NFC teams that are right about where we are. These games down the home stretch are so very, very important. There's a lot of pressure now to be able to get these wins."
First-round pick DT Gerald McCoy put it simply: This is almost a must-win (game). It's not really an almost, it's a must-win. We've got to get this one."
