Ht./Wt: 6-4, 295

Hometown: Oklahoma City (Southeast High School)

OVERVIEW: Considered an athlete that works well within any system, whether it is bull rushing from the inside gaps or executing spin moves to come off the edge. His lateral agility allowed him to line up in a variety of positions. With his long arms, body control and balance, McCoy is effective at avoiding the cut block. With a strong hand punch, he can easily split double teams or push the isolated blocker back into the pocket. He is a patient player who rarely gets out of control or loses position. Has the ability to plug the rush lanes in the middle or string plays out wide.

COLLEGE: Following McCoy’s lead, Oklahoma ranked eighth nationally in rushing yards (92.9 ypg) and total defense (272 ypg) and seventh in scoring defense (14.5 ppg). He recorded 34 tackles in 2009, 20 of them for no gain or a loss. He also recorded six sacks for losses of 47 yards. He was a consensus All-American first-team choice in 2009. Started 40 games at Oklahoma finishing with 83 tackles (51 solos), including 14.5 sacks for minus 97 yards, 33 stops for losses totaling 141 yards and 21 quarterback pressures. He caused and recovered two fumbles, returned an interception 12 yards and deflected four passes.

HIGH SCHOOL: At Southeast High School, McCoy was named National Defensive Player of the Year by USA Today, the 2005 Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year, and was named to the All-State team and the city’s Player of the Year. He was rated the nation’s best defensive tackle by College Football News coming out of high school and the 10th best overall college prospect. He had 82 tackles, 20 sacks and recovered nine fumbles as a senior.
