No sign of Jim Bates during Bucs practice

The Bucs are on the field beginning preparations for Sunday's game at Atlanta, but there was no sign of Jim Bates during the portion of practice open to the media.

Bates was reassigned last night and relieved of his defensive coordinator duties. His exact role isn't clear, but he'll be far less involved from a game-planning standpoint. Bates will serve in more of an advisory capacity.

The team was beginning the installation portion of practice when the media viewing period ended. Raheem Morris was in the middle of the defensive unit, directing things on that side of the ball. He typically would be switching back and forth between offense and defense, but that no longer will be an option.
