No truth to Jon Gruden-Eagles rumors
You might have heard rumblings this morning generated by a radio host and Tweets that former Bucs coach Jon Gruden could be in line to replace Eagles coach Andy Reid any day now.
Well, the Eagles heard them, too, and they have gone so far as to release a statement shooting down the fast-spreading rumor.
"Early this morning we have received several inquiries regarding the rumors regarding Andy Reid and Jon Gruden," the statement said. "This was simply a rumor and there is no basis to it at all. It is simply not true."
So, let's just put the rumor to rest before it mushrooms any more.
That said, you have to admit that the whole idea of Gruden coaching Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is rich in irony. As a former division foe of Vick's when the player was in Atlanta, Gruden spent many sleepless nights hoping his defense would be able to slow "Starship 7", as Gruden commonly refers to Vick. Of course, the Tampa Bay defense did manage to keep the wraps on Vick a lot of the time, but that doesn't mean he didn't cause Gruden a few Rolaids moments over the years.
Anyhow, it's not happening, so let's end this trip to Fantasyland here. It was fun while it lasted.
