OL Demar Dotson getting reps at tight end

Offensive coordinator Greg Olson acknowledged there have been protection issues, specifically at the tight end position.

And with arguably the team's best blocking tight end, John Gilmore, missing practice with an injury, Olson said they've used rookie offensive lineman Demar Dotson at tight end to help out.

Dotson, who is 6-foot-9, 315 pounds, was a pleasant surprise in training camp having been an undrafted free agent who hadn't played a down of football until his senior year at Southern Miss. Dotson has played in six games, and is the backup to RT Jeremy Trueblood.

"We’ve had some issues in protection, really with the tight end position," Olson said. "And we're gonna again this week with John Gilmore being out still trying to find a way there to aid us in protection. We’ve now moved Dotson in some at tight end to help us in that area, help us with our run game and with our protection issues. We're trying to find solutions."
