Playoffs?! Postseason probably not in the card for Bucs

The Bucs did major damage to their dying playoff hopes with their loss today. Tampa Bay already had significant obstacles to making the postseason entering the day, and now those impediments are even greater.

The Bucs’ loss to the Eagles is only part of the equation. Compounding that was the fact that nearly every other team in competition with the Bucs for the final NFC wildcard berth won their respective games.

The Seahawks (8-5), Redskins (7-6), Cowboys (7-6) and Vikings (7-6) all won today and each now has a better record than the 6-7 Bucs. And there’s more: Each of those teams, except the Vikings, is in position to win potential tiebreakers with the Bucs.

That means it would require a significant collapse for multiple teams for the Bucs to have a realistic shot at the postseason.

That’s unlikely, at best, which is why today’s loss was one the Bucs could ill afford.
