Quincy Black not participating in practice
Bucs strong-side linebacker Quincy Black, who coach Raheem Morris said suffered an ankle injury against the Vikings, is not on the field for this afternoon's practice at One Buc Place.
Black, who was not available for comment today, was pulled from Sunday's game by Morris, leaving the Bucs without one of their defensive captains. It also forced rookie middle linebacker Mason Foster to play the entire second half, this after previously playing only in the Bucs' base defense. When the Bucs changed to nickel packages in passing situations -- a lineup that includes an extra defensive back -- Foster had been leaving the game and Black assuming the middle linebacker duties.
After Black left the game, Foster remained in the middle in the nickel package and had a very encouraging performance. What's not clear is whether Morris will leave Foster there once Black is healthy again.
