Raiders free agent LB Jon Alston visiting Bucs
Linebacker depth and special teams always is a big need for the Bucs.
That's why Raiders free agent linebacker Jon Alston is visiting with the Bucs today.
Alston, a four-year veteran, was not tendered by the Raiders, making him an unrestricted free agent.
He orginally was drafted in the third round by the Rams out of Stanford. He had 23 tackles last season with the Raiders in nine games, including four starts. He eventually went on injured reserve following a pair of concussions.
The Bucs did not tender linebacker Matt McCoy and need depth at the outside linebacker position. Alston also has visited the New York Jets but left without signing a contract.
The Bucs also are receiving a visit today from Eagles safety Sean Jones.
The Bucs could offer contracts to both players before they conclude their visit today. Stay tuned for updates.
