Rams' last-minute draft decision could affect the Bucs
So, there's a report out this morning that says the Rams won't make a final decision on whether to draft Sam Bradford until they have a private workout with the Oklahoma quarterback on April 19 -- just three days before the start of the draft.
Now, no one is suggesting that all the indications of St. Louis picking Bradford are incorrect. But the fact that the Rams are going to keep their options open until that close to the draft means there remains a chance they could change their minds, and that's where the Bucs could be affected.
The Bucs are hoping the Rams select Bradford, a scenario that guarantees Tampa Bay will be able to select one of the draft's two stud defensive linemen: Gerald McCoy or Ndamukong Suh.
As you might know, Bradford is working out in Norman, Okla. today and anything other than a total train wreck shouldn't have much effect on teams' opinions of him. But the workout that might matter more, especially where the Bucs are concerned, won't come for another several weeks.
UPDATE, 12:41 p.m.: I watched a little of Bradford's workout via a webcam in Oklahoma's field house, and I thought he looked 100 percent. I'm no coach and I'm certainly not a doctor, but he doesn't look like a guy who sustained a fairly major shoulder injury last season. My guess is he'll be fine.
And one more note for the record: Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo was in attendance, watching closely.
