Report: Barry could be headed back to Bucs

Say it's so, Joe.

Fired Lions defensive coordinator Joe Barry appeared to be headed to Seattle to become the Seahawks' linebackers coach. But according to, Barry got cold feet and could be headed back to the Bucs.

Barry was expected to interview for his old job on Wednesday. He has been unavailable for comment. The position became available when linebackers coach Gus Bradley was hired as the Seahawks' defensive coordinator.

It appears the Seahawks have retained linebackers coach Zerrick Rollins as their linebackers coach.

Barry still owns a home and a condo in the Tampa Bay area and has spent the last few weeks here. He has been linked to opportunities with the Chicago Bears, where his father-in-law, former Lions coach Rod Marinelli, has been named assistant head coach/defensive line coach.

The Bears have decided to keep defensive coordinator Bob Babich as their linebackers coach while head coach Lovie Smith will run the defense. So the musical chairs may stop for Barry in Tampa, where he coached linebackers from 2001-06.
