Ruud signs with the Titans
Former Bucs linebacker Barrett Ruud has found a new home with the Tennessee Titans.
Ruud signed a one-year deal with Tennessee, according to the NFL transactions Saturday.
“I'm going to come in and learn (Titans' defensive coordinator) Jerry Gray’s system and just roll with it,'' Ruud told the Tennessean.
Ruud, a second-round draft pick by the Bucs in 2005, led the team in tackles each of the last four seasons. But the Bucs balked at a chance to offer him a contract extension as a restricted free agent in 2009 and 2010.
General manager Mark Dominik indicated earlier in the week that the Bucs were prepared to part ways with Ruud, especially after using a third-round pick on Washington middle linebacker Mason Foster.
