Starting WR Arrelious Benn sidelined with concussion, Dez Briscoe the likely replacement
The Bucs released their final injury report of the week earlier today, and it confimed what coach Raheem Morris suggested on Thursday.
Starting wide receiver Arrelious Benn, the No. 1 flanker, will sit out with concussion-related issues. He sustained the concussion last week against the Jags, and Morris said he responded well to the requisite tests players must pass to return to action. Still, the decision has been made that he won't play.
That will most likely press Dez Briscoe into a starting role against his hometown team. The Dallas native will face the Cowboys in what likely will be the most extensive action he's seen. Briscoe has 23 catches for 292 yards and three touchdowns.
The Bucs lose their biggest deep threat with Benn, the fastest wideout on a team that lacks elite speed. But it's notable that Briscoe is arguably the team's best route runner, something that allows him to get separation from defensive backs.
