Stroughter will have surgery, miss a few weeks
Wide receiver/kick returner Sammie Stroughter will have "a small surgery'' Tuesday on his injured left foot and be out a few weeks, Bucs head coach Raheem Morris said during his weekly news conference Monday at One Buc Place.
Stroughter was injured during a 78-yard kickoff return early in the Bucs' 27-20 season-opening loss to the Lions. He wore a walking boot in the locker room and left the stadium on crutches.
"He's not out for the season,'' Morris said. "A few weeks.''
Morris said Preston Parker played well in Stroughter's absence. He mentioned Micheal Spurlock and Dezmon Briscoe as others the Bucs could turn to at the wide receiver spot.
In other injury news, defensive tackle Brian Price, who left in the third quarter, grabbing his hamstring, is day-to-day, according to Morris.
"Hopefully, we'll get him back,'' Morris said. "He played one of his better games. I'm really pleased where he played yesterday, how fast he got off the ball.''
