Tampa Bay Buccaneers release first depth chart
The Bucs are putting things on paper for the first time.
They have released their first depth chart of the season, though it should be noted that one shouldn't put much stock in it for the moment. The initial depth chart is done really just to create a starting point and because one is required for the first preseason game.
Still, there are a few noteworthy points to make. At quarterback, Luke McCown is listed at No. 1 with Byron Leftwich, Josh Freeman and Josh Johnson listed, in order, behind him.
At receiver, Michael Clayton and Antonio Bryant are the starters, as expected, but it's important to note that Maurice Stovall and Brian Clark are listed as No. 2 on the depth chart behind each of those starters.
On defense, everything is largely as expected, including Jimmy Wilkerson starting at left defensive end. Quincy Black is listed as the starter at strong-side linebacker, with Jermaine Phillips the starter on the weak-side.
Matt Bryant is listed ahead of Mike Nugent at place kicker.
