Tampa Bay Bucs -- TE Stevens eager for offense to get to work Sunday
Tight end Jerramy Stevens is looking forward to getting the offense cranked up Sunday in the season opener against Dallas.
"I'm really excited," said the 6-7, 260-pounder Friday. "I think we have the best right ends in the league. Our quarterback and offensive coordinator are going to try to get us some balls. We have a lot of talent on offense and defense. I think we're going to surprise a lot of people."
Stevens says he isn't bothered that many prognosticators around the country aren't giving the Bucs much of a chance for success this season. "We're fine with that," he said. "The cat's going to be out of the bag once we get out there on Sunday and people see what we're working with."
As for his own goals, the third-year Buc remarked, "When I play the best is when I go out there and just have fun and play my part. I'm not trying to do too much, just go out there and play. We have enough talent that nobody needs to press. We just need to do our job."
Stevens has also enjoyed having new tight end Kellen Winslow around. "Oh yeah, it's fun," he said. "It's been fun in practice and in preseason and it's going to be real fun when we get out there and get in the groove."
