While looking for bigger contract, Donald Penn gets smaller waistline
Here's an interesting story from NFL.com regarding Bucs left tackle Donald Penn.
Jason LaCanfora reports Penn's camp continues to consider making a trade demand a realistic option heading into the draft, something his agent told the Times after he was assigned a first- and third-round restricted free agent tender last month.
That doesn't necessarily force the Bucs to do anything, but maybe the other news in this story will cause the team to reconsider its stance on rewarding Penn with the long-term contract he feels he deserves.
The story says Penn has dropped about 35 pounds, though he reportedly still weighs over 330 pounds. He also is reportedly working with a nutritionalist and personal trainer and has overhauled his diet.
It remains to be seen whether there will be a resolution here. But unless things change from their current status, the Bucs are going to have a very unhappy player on their hands who happens to play a very, very critical position.
