Doug Martin becomes the Bucs' second-ever All-Pro running back
Bucs running back Doug Martin, who finished second in the NFL with 1,402 rushing yards, has been named to the Associated Press All-Pro team, becoming just the second Bucs player honored as a running back.
Martin, who is headed to the Pro Bowl for the second time in his career, was selected by a panel of 50 writers to the 27-player team, joining James Wilder (1984) as the only Bucs running backs selected. Mike Alstott made the team five times as a fullback.
It's one more line for Martin's resume as he prepares to become an unrestricted free agent this spring -- the Bucs and Martin have expressed an interest in keeping him in Tampa with an extension. Martin, who turns 27 on Wednesday, had the third-best total in Bucs history, behind only Wilder's team-record 1,544 yards in 1984 and Martin's 1,454 yards as a rookie in 2012.
