Goldson and Martin could return Monday against Dolphins
The Bucs could be closer to getting a couple of their top players back on the field.
Of the Bucs injured starters, coach Greg Schiano said safety Dashon Goldson (left knee) is the furthest along in his recovery. Goldson, who missed the last two games, could possibly return Monday against the Dolphins, as could Pro Bowl running back Doug Martin (shoulder), Schiano said. Schiano said left guard Carl Nicks (foot) will not play Monday, but is hopeful both he and Martin will play again this season.
While James emerged with a 158-yard performance, Schiano said it doesn't temper the urgency to get Martin back. Martin has a torn labrum in his left shoulder, and hasn't played since the Falcons game.
"I think we want as many quality football players ... that we can," Schiano said. "That's how you win games. Certainly with the emergence of Mike, I thought as we went, the beginning part of the season he got more and more comfortable. And then when he got the opportunity he showed what he could do. It's going to be a good thing to know we have two quality running backs that can run the football."
