Goldson fined again: $60K for hit on Rams receiver
Bucs safety Dashon Goldson's hit on Rams receiver Stedman Bailey last Sunday did not result in another suspension, but it was costly.
Goldson was fined $60,000 by the NFL Friday for his helmet-to-helmet tackle of Bailey following a 12-yard reception in the fourth quarter of the Bucs' 23-13 loss to the Rams.
It's the fourth time Goldson has received sanctions from the league for illegal hits. In Week 1 he was fined $30,000 for a hit on Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland. In Week 2, his one-game suspension for a hit on Saints running back Darren Sproles was overturned on appeal but his penalty was $100,000. On Nov. 17, his hit on Falcons wide receiver Roddy White earned him a suspension for one game and the forfeiture of a game check.
All told, Goldson has been fined nearly $450,000 this season. He signed a 5-year, $41.5-million contract with the Bucs in March after spending his first six seasons with the 49ers.
