Greetings from Canton: Hall of Fame festivities begin
Greetings from Canton, Ohio, where Bucs great Derrick Brooks will be inducted Saturday night into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Brooks is in town and already taking part in Hall festivities, including a large group photo of returning and new Hall of Famers.
Brooks and this year's class members sat in the middle of the front row, and Brooks was next to returning Hall of Famers Charley Taylor and Jim Brown. He'll be interviewed this afternoon, and Saturday night, he'll be introduced as the first of seven Hall of Famers joining as part of this class.
Brooks already has a small exhibit in the Hall, showing the Pro Bowl jersey he wore in winning MVP honors in 2006. His bust will coincidentally be directly across the hall from longtime teammate Warren Sapp, who was inducted last year. Bucs fans wanting to see Sapp's bust on Friday morning were disappointed to see it had been temporarily removed, perhaps for use with Sapp's work on NFL Network. The late Lee Roy Selmon's bust is also on display, as the first Bucs player inducted, in 1995.
