Jacquies Smith back in lineup for Bucs vs. Rams
After missing two games with a hamstring injury, defensive end Jacquies Smith is back active for the Bucs' game tonight against the Rams, giving Tampa Bay's pass rush a major boost.
Smith, second on the team with six sacks, comes back healthy but the Bucs are still missing key players in their front seven -- MLB Bruce Carter and DT Akeem Spence are both inactive with ankle injuries, with Danny Lansanah stepping in at middle linebacker and Tony McDaniel making his first start of the season for Spence. DE George Johnson remains inactive with a calf injury for the fourth straight game.
WR Vincent Jackson will miss the game with a knee injury, with receiver Donteea Dye -- who had a costly drop on the Bucs' final drive in Sunday's loss to the Saints -- stepping into his starting role.
The Bucs' other inactives are healthy scratches -- OT Demar Dotson, TE Brandon Myers and QB Ryan Griffin. The Rams will play without DE Robert Quinn, placed on injured reserve Thursday, but will get back former Gators cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who had been sidelined with a concussion.
