Jeff Demps update: Sprinter will run at worlds, impacting return to football
Olympic sprinter and Bucs running back Jeff Demps has indeed been asked to run on the 4x100-meter relay team at next month’s world championships in Moscow, his agent said.
Demps had been awaiting word on his status with the relay team, knowing his inclusion on it would impact his timeline for potentially re-joining the Bucs. The world championships run from Aug. 10-18. Agent Daniel Rose said this week that Demps intends to join the team, likely sometime in August.
Demps was traded to the Bucs in April, part of a deal that sent running back LeGarrette Blount to the Patriots. The Olympic silver medalist has an understanding with the Bucs that he would see the track and field season through to its completion.
