NFL Draft: Locals Chris Moore, Tyler Higbee picked in fourth round
Two local players were among the first 12 picks Saturday in the final day of the NFL draft.
Former Jefferson High star receiver Chris Moore was the No. 107 overall pick to the Ravens. The 6-foot-1, 206-pound Moore totaled 870 yards and seven touchdowns at Cincinnati last season; he ranked fourth nationally in yards per catch (21.8).
East Lake High product Tyler Higbee went three picks later to the Rams. The former Western Kentucky tight end was viewed by some pundits as a potential second-round pick but was charged with assault earlier this month. The 6-foot-6, 249-pound Higbee sustained a knee injury last fall but still racked up 38 catches for 563 yards and eight touchdowns.
Other players with state/local ties selected Saturday include:
Miami safety Deon Bush (No. 124, Bears)
Florida linebacker Antonio Morrison (No. 125, Colts)
Florida receiver Demarcus Robinson (No. 126, Chiefs)
Hillsborough High/Purdue cornerback Anthony Brown (No. 189, Cowboys)
