No waiver claims for Bucs, who lose Danny Vitale to Bills
After claiming five players off waivers after NFL cutdown day last season, the Bucs were awarded no players Sunday, though draft pick Danny Vitale was claimed by the Buffalo Bills after being waived by Tampa Bay on Saturday.
Vitale, a sixth-round pick and tight end/fullback from Northwestern, was among Tampa Bay's most surprising cuts, and he'll get a fresh start in Tampa Bay.
Eighteen teams combined to claim 33 players off waivers, and 14 of them were claimed by teams with higher waiver priority than the Bucs, who were ninth in order for any claims.
The Bucs can now begin assembling their 10-man practice squad -- we've already reported that RB Russell Hansbrough and WR Freddie Martino are expected to sign with the Bucs' practice squad after clearing waivers.
