Schiano: Nicks not ruled out vs. Jets

While it would seem unlikely that left guard Carl Nicks will play Sunday against the Jets, coach Greg Schiano insisted Wednesday that the All Pro is not yet ruled out.

Nicks hasn't practiced in a couple weeks since getting MRSA, a serious staph infection, on his injured foot. He wasn't practicing Wednesday, with Gabe Carimi taking the reps with the first team at left guard.

But Schiano said Nicks, a two-time Pro Bowler, has enough experience to not need a lot of practice time to play.

"Let's just wait and see," Schiano said. "He's a guy who's played, he practiced. We feel like he can play, he doesn't need to have a ton of work. Certainly he'd be better if he had a lot of practice, but he doesn't need to do that much. Everything is a relative decision when you make decisions."
