Several big hits in Saturday's practice
Though the Bucs weren’t tackling to the ground, there were several big hits in Saturday’s practice, including CB Anthony Gaitor taking out WR Eric Page during a crossing route, drawing a penalty flag. But Page held on.
"When we get out our offense and defense, there's a little more intensity," Page said. "He's pumped up, he's trying to make a play and I made a play. It happens sometimes, no hard feelings there. It's football."
There was one collision the Bucs likely didn’t want to see, with DE Da’Quan Bowers and S Dashon Goldson running into each other in the backfield chasing RB Doug Martin.
But coach Greg Schiano liked the physicality – and compete-level – in Saturday’s practice.
“I think the fact that they were willing to hit somebody at this point in camp was pretty impressive,” Schiano said. “There were some shots out there today. Even though we’re not tackling to the ground, there were some guys that made some good contact. We challenged our football team, we think they were ready for that challenge.”
