Smith quickly filling out his coaching staff
Lovie Smith is wasting no time filling out his Bucs coaching staff.
The team officially announced the hiring of former Cal head coach Jeff Tedford as their offensive coordinator Saturday morning and former Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier confirmed he would be coming to Tampa Bay as defensive coordinator.
But some other position appointments are being made. As reported Friday, Smith is not retaining any of the leftover assistant coaches from Greg Schiano's staff.
Southern Miss offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo is lined up as quarterbacks coach, according to Alex Marvez of Fox Sports. Arroyo worked with Tedford at Cal.
Smith also is expected to hire former Bears running backs coach Tim Spencer for the same position with the Bucs. Kevin O'Dea, who was a special teams assistant with the Bucs on Jon Gruden's staff in Tampa Bay and worked for Smith in Chicago, will coach special teams, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
