Trial in Jameis Winston case delayed to March 2017
The trial date for the litigation between Jameis Winston and the woman who accused him of sexual assault has been moved again.
The legal dispute between Winston and Zephyrhills' Erica Kinsman is now scheduled for trial beginning March 6, 2017 in Orlando, according to federal court records. That's two months later than the previous court date, which could have interfered with the Bucs' season. The deadline for discovery in the case is October 3, and mediation is scheduled for Oct. 17.
Kinsman sued Winston earlier this year, alleging he sexually assaulted her when they were both students at Florida State. Winston filed a countersuit, accusing Kinsman of defamation. The Bucs rookie quarterback has denied wrongdoing and has never been arrested or charged with a crime.
This case is separate from Kinsman's Title IX lawsuit against FSU. A trial in that case is scheduled for Sept. 19.
