George not at morning practice

Defensive end Woody George, arrested Thursday night on a felony count of third-degree grand theft relating to a missing parking boot, was not in attendance as USF's football team practiced Friday morning.

There was no immediate indication of when the senior would return to the team, but George wasn't released from county jail until 1:10 a.m., when he posted $2,000 bond. University police arrested him at 5:25 p.m. Thursday after he told them he had "thrown away"  a $450 parking boot that had been placed on his car on campus.

We'll have more after coach Jim Leavitt addresses the media after the morning practice ends around 10:30 a.m.

-- One more note: Players are recovering from most of the minor injuries that drew headlines Monday. Freshman offensive lineman Kevin McCaskill wasn't wearing a boot on his injured foot Friday, leaving receiver Antwon Hanks as the only player wearing a boot, and a smaller one at that. (Easy on the jokes, please). USF's first-team offensive line, while still missing guards Matt Huners and Ryan Schmidt, lined up otherwise intact Friday, with tackles Marc DIle and Walter Walker, guards Zach Hermann and Jake Griffin and center Nick Capogna. Offensive line coach Mike SImmonds is not immune to the injury bug, with a cast on his left hand Friday, though it did little to slow his demonstrative coaching style. And since we're the blog of record for all things walk-on: fullback Jason Fox and tackle Joe Herzhauser have been lining up as new blocking backs on USF's punt unit.
