And you thought you were fired up before ...

Give Orlando Sentinel columnist David Whitley credit for coming up with -- and executing -- fun and outside-the-box column ideas. A few years back, when the Bucs had given up their top draft picks to get coach Jon Gruden, he literally brought Tolstoi's "War and Peace" to One Buc Place, trying to see how much he could read before the Bucs made their first pick.

Then there's today's Sentinel, where Whitley dressed himself in a UCF t-shirt and hat, with UCF car flags sticking out of each side of his head and walked around USF's campus. I won't steal the main picture that ran with the story -- it's more fun for the shock value once you've clicked on the link. There are some real shots at USF, but remember, they're coming from a guy who wore UCF gear on campus to see if he could get a rise out of people:

"I hadn't been to USF in about 10 years. Back then, it was a just a pasture where kids who couldn't get into Florida or Florida State drove around looking for parking spaces until the administration just handed them a degree.

Now it's added a football team.

"We're No. 5!" some guy yelled.

Pending the next NCAA investigation, pal.

Forgive the cheap shot, my USF friends. It's just that success has made a few of you bullheaded, and USF needs to be reminded it's not yet USC."

There you have it. This kind of stuff makes it hard to claim this isn't a rivalry, albeit a short-lived one. Thoughts? Comments? Two days to kickoff, folks ...
