USF-UCF charity car smash next week
Not to have fans looking past Saturday's USF-Florida Atlantic game, but in anticipation of next week's USF-Central Florida game, there's a charity car smash at a bar near campus Tuesday night. That's right: not a car wash, but a car smash.
The folks at the Hangout Bar (2025 E. Fowler Ave.) have a car "painted in UCF colors" in the parking lot and will allow fans to whack it with a sledgehammer. (Five bucks gets you two shots). All proceeds will be donated to the Phi Delta Theta Charity for Lou Gehrig's Disease, according to organizers. The bar will also be giving away two tickets for the game and is serving "Green Bull beer."
The e-mail states that organizers have "sent an open invitation to Jim Leavitt, his coaching staff and the entire Bull team," but since the event starts at 11 p.m., I wouldn't hold your breath on any buses showing up from the athletic facility.
