More awards: Selvie, Leavitt are semifinalists

Lots of award news this morning, as USF defensive end George Selvie is among the 15 semifinalists for the Bednarik Award, given to college football's Outstanding Defensive Player, and Bulls coach Jim Leavitt is among 15 semifinalists for the George Munger Award, given to the College Coach of the Year. Both awards are given by the Maxwell Football Club in Pennsylvania.

Selvie, leading the nation with 13.5 sacks and 27.5 tackles for loss, is the only Big East player among the 15 semifinalists, cementing his status as a strong candidate for Big East Defensive Player of the Year. Leavitt is one of three Big East coaches up for the Munger, along with West Virginia's Rich Rodriguez and Connecticut's Randy Edsall.

Voting for both awards ends Nov. 30, with three finalists for each attending the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN on Dec. 6.
