Another close loss: Bulls fall at DePaul

A lack of depth continues to keep the Bulls from sustaining leads in Big East play, as USF led DePaul by 16 in the first half and 11 at halftime, only to see the Blue Demons pull away to a 69-61 win on Saturday.

The Bulls, who have dropped 10 straight, got 18 points and 14 rebounds from Kentrell Gransberry, 13 points from Solomon Bozeman and 11 from Dominique Jones. Down by one point with 8:46 to play, USF saw DePaul pull away with perimeter shooting, hitting seven 3-pointers in the second half.

USF's other starting guards struggled from the field, as Chris Howard didn't score a point and Jesus Verdejo went 0-for-6 on 3-pointers.

USF's women's team also lost on the road, allowing Cincinnati to end its eight-game losing streak by beating the Bulls 74-67 despite 27 points from guard Shantia Grace. The Bulls came out flat as the Bearcats opened the game with a 13-0 run and never trailed. This was a key game for USF to put itself in position to make the Big East tournament and a major dropoff after the Bulls knocked off No. 25 DePaul last weekend.
