Grothe joins '08 Watch List Watch List
Football season is still a full seven weeks off, but it's a busy time to be told who we should be watching. Yes, the Watch List Watch List has a few more additions, most notably USF quarterback Matt Grothe, who earns a second consecutive nod to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, according to a USF release.
We'd link to the Maxwell list, or make fun of just how many people are on it, but the Maxwell site hasn't been updated since last year's award ceremony. Along the same lines, the Maxwell folks give out the Chuck Bednarik Award, and USF defensive end George Selvie and linebacker Tyrone McKenzie are among those initially being considered to be honored as college football's top defensive player.
Selvie has quite a Watch List List himself, being honored by the Bednarik, Lott, Nagurski and Lombardi awards; McKenzie is on the Lott and Nagurski as well. And don't forget guard Ryan Schmidt for the Outland Trophy and center Jake Griffin for the Rimington Award. Watch, people, watch!
