USF-UCF game nearing sellout in Orlando

The last football game scheduled between USF and Central Florida, on Sept. 6 in Orlando, is about 2,000 seats away from being sold out, UCF associate athletic director Joe Hornstein said.

UCF has limited ticket access to USF fans, making single-game tickets for the Bulls game only available to season ticket holders. The Bulls are believed to have sold out their allotment of 4,000 tickets. UCF had an announced attendance of at least 41,000 for all seven of their home games last year in the Knights' first season in Bright House Networks Stadium.

Hornstein said UCF will decide Friday how to handle any remaining tickets, and the school is looking at an on-campus ticket drive for the USF game this weekend as UCF opens its season against South Carolina State.

The two schools have met in each of the last three seasons, with USF winning all three games, including a 64-12 win in Tampa last year.

-- Former USF linebacker Ben Moffitt, trying to make the Houston Texans' roster as an undrafted rookie, cleared one hurdle Tuesday when he wasn't among five players cut to reach the NFL limit of 75 players. Moffitt still faces a much bigger cut this weekend, when teams must reduce their rosters to 53.
