Fourth-down call goes for naught
USF took a big gamble, going for it on fourth-and-1 on its own 33-yard line in the first quarter, and while Matt Grothe's keeper got the first down, the Bulls weren't able to turn that to points.
For those of you calling for offensive gimmickry, here you go -- Taurus Johnson dropped for a 2-yard loss on a reverse, and three plays later, receiver Theo Wilson, making his offensive debut, was dropped for a 7-yard loss on an end around.
The Bulls have definitely established their running game, with 73 yards on the ground in the opening quarter, but this drive ended with a sack of Matt Grothe on third-and-11 from the Cincy 37.
