Key matchup: USF vs. Louisville run game
Louisville enters Saturday's game averaging 210.7 rushing yards a game, 18th nationally, but
the Cardinals haven't faced a run defense like USF's. Louisville's three victories against I-A opponents have been against run defenses ranked 74th (Middle Tennessee State), 89th (Memphis) and 100th (Kansas State).
The Bulls rank
seventh, allowing 77.3 yards a game, even though they've allowed
Pittsburgh's LeSean McCoy and Syracuse's Curtis Brinkley to pass 100 yards in their past two.
"We've got to stop the run, first and foremost," DE George Selvie said. "…Hopefully when we stop the run, we'll have them where we want them."
WILL HE PLAY: Senior G Matt Huners (right ankle) left Saturday's game and has been held out of practice, but he said he expects to start Saturday.
"I
got rolled up on a play, and my ankle's pretty sore," he said. "I'm
just trying to get it ready for this week. I feel fine right now."
Redshirt freshman Jeremiah Warren worked with the first team Wednesday and coach Jim Leavitt said with four seniors starting, it's important that young linemen get experience.
"Could (Huners) have gone today if he had to? I think so," he said. "We've got to get those other guys ready."
