Golden! Men's soccer wins Big East crown

USF's men's soccer team has defeated St. John's 1-0 in overtime at USF Soccer Stadium to win the Big East championship -- just the third Bulls team to accomplish the feat.

After finishing regulation scoreless, the two teams went to a 10-minute overtime, and the winning goal came with four minutes remaining from freshman Sebastien Thuriere, a Seminole graduate, with an assist from Jordan Seabrook. The Bulls remain undefeated on their home field after rallying to beat Notre Dame 2-1 in Friday's semifinal.

All three goals this weekend came from Bulls who hadn't scored in Big Easty play during the regular season -- junior Francisco Aristeguieta had his first two against Notre Dame, and Thuriere's goal was his first in conference play.

It's only the second Big East tournament title for USF, which got its first from women's tennis in 2007. Softball won a regular-season Big East crown this spring.
