No Bulls in NBDL draft; Brumbaugh taken
No former USF players were among the 160 players selected in Friday's NBA Developmental League draft, but former Hillsborough Community College star Keith Brumbaugh, who was recruited by the Bulls, was taken in the sixth round by the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Brumbaugh, who applied for early entry to the NBA Draft but was not selected this summer, had signed with a pro team in Turkey, but was released shortly after arriving. Brumbaugh, a former Mr. Florida in basketball at DeLand High, led all junior college basketball with 35 points per game last season. Sioux Falls is affliliated with the Timberwolves and Bobcats, and their season starts in three weeks. The team already has nine players on its roster to go with its 10 draft picks, so Brumbaugh would still have to make cuts for the Skyforce roster.
-- Meant to post this yesterday, but I checked in with former USF guard Reggie Kohn, now coach at Orlando Christian Prep, where Stan Heath's top remaining target for next week's early signing period, forward Keith Clanton, plays. Kohn confirmed that Clanton this week eliminated South Carolina from his options, leaving just the Bulls and Central Florida. The signing period starts Wednesday and lasts one week, though Kohn said he still isn't sure when Clanton will announce his decision. The Bulls have commitments from guards Jordan Dumars and Shaun Noriega, and Clanton would help fill a key need for Stan Heath for depth at power forward next season.
