Women's hoops hits 100 again vs. Stetson

TAMPA -- Want evidence of the new uptempo style of USF's women's basketball team? How about the Bulls' second 100-point game in four days?

The Bulls (3-0) showcased their newfound depth with another high-scoring win, cruising to a 103-55 win against Stetson. After reaching 100 points just four times in Jose Fernandez's first eight seasons at USF, the Bulls have done it twice in three games, following a 100-41 win Saturday against Central Connecticut State.

"Offensively, we're playing unselfishly, and it's very pleasing to see," said Fernandez, whose team had 23 assists while forcing 26 turnovers before an announced Sun Dome crowd of 910. "On both ends of the floor, I think we created tempo."

Senior guards Jazmine Sepulveda and Shantia Grace led the way with 24 and 19 points, respectively; Sepulveda has played 74 minutes this season without a turnover.

"We want as many possessions as possible," Grace said. "We just press, get uptempo, get steals, pressure, whatever we can. We create offense on defense, so if we're pressuring and trapping, then the offense will come."

The Bulls, who have scored 100 in two games in the same season just twice before this week, start facing tougher competition, with Coppin State (22-12 last season) coming to the Sun Dome on Sunday. Then USF has a big challenge, facing No. 7 California on Nov. 27 in the first of three games in the Virgin Islands.
