AFCA names Selvie first-team All-American

Junior defensive end George Selvie is USF's first two-time All-American, as the American Football Coaches Association has honored him as a first-team All-American.

Selvie's numbers are significantly down this year -- five sacks and 11 tackles for loss -- though that's a function of him facing consistent double-teams from opposing offenses and being limited by a sprained ankle. Selvie became USF's first consensus All-American last year when he led the nation with 31.5 tackles for loss and was second with 14.5 sacks.

Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes and receiver Percy Harvin were the only other AFCA first-team All-Americans from a Florida school. Cincinnati punter Kevin Huber was the only other Big East player honored.
