Two days out, lots of Bulls links to share ...
Lots of links to get to today as we're now two days from the St. Petersburg Bowl.
-- Was over in Orlando with family on Wednesday afternoon, so I missed what looked like a fun "Team Beach Bash" at the Tradewinds in St. PetersbuNew Post | Post | The Bulletin: USF Sports | Your Weblogs | TypePadrg. USF's official site has a fun photo gallery -- Leavitt jumping in the pool, Carlton Mitchell hula-hooping, Chaz Hine singing in the talent show and more.
-- The Miami Herald has a feature on senior tackle Marc Dile, a Miami Edison graduate, finishing his Bulls career with a degree and four bowl games. That reminds me that his former teammate at Edison and USF, running back Chad Simpson, had a touchdown Sunday for the surging Colts.
-- Coach-search name-dropping: It's that time of year. Rivals.com's Tom Dienhart writes that "there's a good chance" Illinois coach Ron Zook will make a run at USF receivers coach Mike Canales to be his new offensive coordinator. ... We'd mentioned the possibility of USF offensive coordinator Greg Gregory being a candidate at Army, where he coached 16 seasons. Armysports.com, the Scout.com site for Army, has handicapped the speculative candidates, and gives Gregory 14-to-1 odds, with four other candidates landing better odds. "Gregory may very well not even get an interview," the site writes, though again, it reads like little more than speculation. ... I raised an eyebrow, seeing that Utah offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig is leaving the Utes to become offensive coordinator at Kansas State. Canales was a finalist for the head coaching job at Utah State (his alma mater), and his son, T.J., is a freshman quarterback at Utah, but he's not interested in the Utes position.
